Story

The situation at the Halkida Shelter, supported by Desperate Greekies, has escalated into a very serious court battle. This fundraiser is not to help a particular dog, this is a fight for the very lives of EVERY dog who has found shelter there.

this is a fight for the very lives of the animals who have found sanctuary and the hope of a better life

The neighbours have got together and are bringing a case against the trustees (board members) of the Shelter, where each board member could be fined 30,000 euros each, if found guilty. The case against them consists of claims of environmental issues, such as noise and smell pollution.

In addition, the neighbours are saying the dogs aren't cared for properly, which is a complete lie, as all the dogs are neutered, fed, treated, vaccinated and homed by Desperate Greekies, and without the vital UK support, the shelter would have never survived.

The conditions within the Shelter are a world away from the local municipality, thanks to the many people who give their all to this shelter, whether through volunteering or fundraising.

The neighbours believe that if they take the board members to court, and the court find them guilty of the charges, the board will be dissolved and the dogs removed and taken to the municipality shelter, which is almost certainly a death sentence for every animal there.

The woman coordinating the fight against this case has employed a lawyer, but somehow we have to try and raise £2,500, which will be incredibly difficult. We will keep fighting and supporting the Halkida Shelter, because this is a fight for the very lives of the animals who have found sanctuary and the hope of a better life.

Thank you so much for your support - every single donation will make a valuable contribution to this fight for survival. In addition, you can PayPal donations to elizabeth.grayston@yahoo.co.uk, marking for friends and family.
