Rotherham’s Looked After Children’s Council (LACC) is hoping to take an educational visit to Poland next year. With your help they can do so.
With the festive season upon us, we want to give as much money to the LACC as possible to send the children off to Krakow in the new year, and we need your help.
We’ve had an amazing response from staff, elected members and the general public who have helped fundraise over the past 4 months, and are asking for a little more to make this a Christmas to remember.
The ‘Destination Poland’ project will be a unique journey of exploration and education for 14 young people from the Looked After Children’s Council supported by staff. The visit, backed by corporate parents including senior staff at Rotherham Council and elected members, will enable the children and young people to learn more about the anti-fascism, significant events in history and enable them to bring their learning back to peers.
The LAC Council are a group of children and young people who are in care and leaving care, aged 11 to 18 years old. The group provides an opportunity for them to get their voice heard and work together to influence positive decisions to improve the lives of young people living in care in Rotherham.
Any donation is greatly appreciated to let the LAC Council reach their goal, all funding goes to the LACC.
Events which have been organised by council staff to promote and raise money for this cause, have include:
• Partners’ Marathon, Herringthorpe Stadium, Thursday 15 September
• Ten Mile Sponsored walk, Thrybergh Country Park, Saturday 17 September
• Partnership Cycle ‘From Rotherham to Krakow’, Riverside House
And our partners have also contributed with:
• REMA (Rotherham Ethnic Minority Alliance) Festival of Angels, Minster Gardens, Friday 16 December
