Story

Hello everyone.

Been needing some good news, and out of nowhere, here we freaking go, as of last week haha. Well, it 2 good news reports, really 😊

First:

We got our dates for Togo, y'all. I'll be joining the surgical team and heading out in mid-March. My role will primarily revolve around post-surgery rehab and psychosocial support for patients, their families, and hospital staff, along with supporting the welfare of my team.

Thanks to your support in 2022 before my week-long trip there, I still have funding for 10 days.

Second:

I also have another fantastic opportunity. I have had the great privilege/honour to be invited to join my dear friends, the Peacocks, to go to Holguin, Cuba, with the scope of doing similar work within the community through Bethel Church, Holguin, as I did in Togo.

My work here will be very similar to Togo's: providing psychosocial support and teaching different elements of disaster mental health. However, the physical therapy element will be more within the community rather than at a clinic.

This is also a great opportunity to see first hand further needs around the community and see what kind of support and development are needed after the recent disasters. Hurricane Raphel this month, was followed by a 6.8-magnitude Earthquake four days later, which left the already food and medical deprived community, in an even worse state.

So, instead of starting two separate fundraisers, I thought I would combine the two into one.

Here is the cost breakdown:

£1800 will sponsor the following:

Visas for both Cuba and Togo(£250), a plane ticket to Togo (£7-800), a stay in the country for an additional 5 days (250), and a weeklong stay in Holguin (500). The in-country stay covers housing, food, translators, food and clean/fresh water for the community we will be serving, and transportation in the country with the team so that the we can deliver the work mentioned above.

Anything raised beyond that will go towards the communities' physical therapy supplies, food, fresh/clean water and medical supplies.

Watch out for upcoming pilgrim fundraiser walks with Bear and me. Make sure you follow our journey on Instagram @16db11_justdoingmything.

Thank you all for all your kindness, love, prayers, and continued support in making this a reality. Y'all are AWESOME!
