We are a group of 15 girls who are involved with Devon County Cricket. We are aged from 13 to 21 and have 3 adult supporting us on our cricket tour to Cape Town, South Africa this coming February. We are lucky enough to be going on this tour however we are needing to do a lot of fundraising.

We will be playing in a cricket tournament consisting of 3 other teams. We will we playing a combination of 50 over cricket and T20 cricket within the 5 day tournament. Before the tournament we will be playing a few warm-up games against some local boys cricket teams.

On the days that we are not playing cricket we will be seeing the attractions that the Cape has to offer, this will be things like Boulder Beach, Table Mountain and possibly Robben Island where we will learn about Nelson Mandela and his experiences. We will also be taking a day to visit a township around Cape Town where we will meet some of the people followed by visiting a school and teaching the kids somethings along with donating some books for their lessons. The school we will be visiting is a small pre-school in the heart of a Township. The school has little equipment for the vibrant children so we have taken it upon ourselves to donate books to aid their learning. The last group that went on tour also went to a pre-school and they taught the children nursery rhymes and also donated some tennis balls but we felt that the children would benefit more from something they are lacking which is books.

We are doing lots of things to help us fund-raise this trip such as a stationary cycle on the 17th December in Exeter City Center and a 24 hour Batathon which will be held at Plymouth College on the 15th and 16th of December. We are also running a fourball golf day on the 12th of January at Teign Valley Golf Club. (if interested then please email warren.carr@devoncricket.co.uk)

All this fundraising we are doing will help us see some other tourist attractions that the tour company does not provide along with our evening meals and other things like team equipment. We'd be very great full if you could take a minute to donate.
