Story

June 2017 our lives took an unexpected turn for the worst. On the 12th June 2017 I was at work when my waters broke. I was only 23 weeks +5 days pregnant at the time. Our son held on for a few days in my womb but sadly gave up his fight and was delivered sleeping on Thursday 15th June 2017 at 24+1 weighing a tiny 1lb 10ozs but of pure perfection. We named him Dexter Bear Hopkins. We are well and truly heartbroken and miss our son every minute of everyday. We wanted to create somewhere we could go to remember and think about Dexter. Our lovely Godson, Alfie, thought a sponsored walk would be a great way of raising money so we could get a bench donated in a local park with a plaque to commemorate Dexter.
So on Sunday 1st October 2017 (3 days before what would've been Dexter's due date) we are having a sponsored walk called 'Dexter's Big Toddle' where lots of Dexter's family and friends will be doing a 2 mile walk carrying their favourite bears. When we get to the park we'll be having a balloon release to remember our boy.
We hope to raise enough money to afford a bench (£500 for the bench and plaque) and would be eternally grateful if you could sponsor us, our family and friends and especially all Dexter's buddies who'll be doing a great job of toddling. If we reach our target then any extra money raised will go towards our ongoing JustGiving page 'Dexter's Sunshine' that will be raising money for the Neo-natal unit at Leeds General Infirmary where Dexter was born.

Thank you for reading and supporting us.

Thinking of Dexter Bear always 💙🐻 xxxxx
