Story
Cosy Clothes for Tiny Miracles is a voluntary group based in Nuneaton with over 60 ladies who make items to keep premature and sick babies in hospital warm. We currently supply around 6,000 items each year and are proud to support local maternity hospitals in Coventry & Leicester who are very grateful for everything we supply. We work with the hospital to ensure we are supplying goods to meet their needs.
We have been pleased to discover this also helps our volunteer’s mental health and wellbeing. I was surprised to find some have asked family for yarn for Christmas and birthdays to help them continue the good work. We have comments from them like “My husband says I am no longer impossible to live with now I’ve started knitting” “I can forget I am seriously ill when I am knitting, and it’s wonderful to help such a good cause, I now feel I have a purpose in life”. To mention just two of many.
In the current economic climate, our volunteers are struggling with the cost of materials, as many are elderly and live alone. One group have got together via word of mouth and thanks to a volunteer driver, now meet each week to knit and knatter. All say they are no longer lonely and have made new friends.
