Story
Myself, Hazel, Danielle, and Natalie will be taking part in the Cardiff half marathon. This will be the 1st time for Hazel, Danielle and Natalie to do this. We have decided to do this to help raise money for the respiratory department in Bronglais, an asset which is very much needed within the community. On a personal level it was a great asset to us. Our Dad/Dadcu suffered with emphysema a cruel disease that affects the lungs. This made it very difficult for him to breath, at times even at rest. Even though he struggled he never complained. Towards the later stages of the disease he needed oxygen therapy to assist him with his breathing. An assessment was carried out by the specialist respiratory nurses, their prompt action made it possible for our Dad/Dadcu to have oxygen therapy at home. It's important that patients are able to stay within their own environment as this reduces stress and anxiety as this can exacerbate the condition making it even harder to breath.
The prognosis is not good for patients with this condition as we found out. Our Dad/Dadcu lost his life in June 2012 at the age of 75. Without the care, compassion and excellent service of the department we believe we would have lost him a lot sooner.
So as a thank you for giving us that extra time with him and in his memory, please help us raise funds for vital equipment so that it can be used to benefit another patient/family.
Let's make this happen!
Thank you Dianne, Hazel, Danielle and Natalie.

7 years agoThank you to all that donated for the respiratory department in Bronglais. We raised a total of £1316.00 which will be presented to the department on the 7th of December at 16:30. I’m sure that they will be so grateful of every penny and make use of it for life changing/saving equipment. Knowing that we can make a difference in memory of our Dad/Dadcu is so rewarding to us and running every step was worthwhile, I’m sure he would be proud. Diolch yn Fawr pawb/thank you all. Xxx
