Story

This fundraiser is raising money for Ester Taka, who is a young woman connected to The Last Reformation working with street children in Kampala, Uganda. A young homeless girl called Didayan, who she had been ministering to, was brutally raped a few days ago and died the next day in hospital. Ester is very upset for Didayan, who she got to know as a friend, and is now faced with picking up the hospital bill, which is about £250. Ester has little money, so please show her the love of Jesus and help her recover her costs. Any small donation will help.

Ester Taka's Bio

My name is Ester Taka and I am a Ugandan citizen living in Kampala. I was brought up on the streets of Kampala and suffered negligence. I experienced all sorts of abuse during my unfortunate street life. Uganda is a country where preachers fill the streets of many cities preaching the gospel, particularly in Kampala. I heard the word of God frequently, but my current situation at that time could not allow me to perceive it until one day a man of God, Jeremiah, having seen me several times whilst he was preaching confronted me and asked all about my life. After narrating my story, the man told me that if I accepted Jesus as my saviour all problems and burdens would be stripped off, so I asked many questions about this man Jesus; including where this man Jesus was when I was suffering. The man of God was very patient with my ignorance and explained. That was my turning point. From then on, I started moving with him from place to place preaching as well as teaching the Bible. After a long time of preaching with him I started to feel that I was called to help other vulnerable people who had lost hope with the gospel. That was the beginning of TINE ON THE MOUNTAIN MINISTRIES. I founded this community based organization. By God's grace I now preach in different communities around the country. My story about me and TINE ON THE MOUNTAIN MINISTRIES is actually much longer, but I have kept it brief here.

The Cause - Didayan

Now i want to tell you how i met this girl, Didayan. While i was on my missions in the ghettos of Kampala, Kisenyi, as i typically do, I found this woman and her daughter on the verandah of a house, which some of the residents call home. When this girl saw me trying to support some of the street kids with food, she also told me that she and her mother were hungry. I asked where she stayed with her mother. She took me to the place and I found that their situation was alarming; two women sleeping out on the verandah! I was touched because of my past life on the street. I thought about taking them to my place, but it was already full of kids since it's very small. I decided to support them where they were at that time whilst praying and asking God to provide us a bigger place with room for them as well. Unfortunately, whilst I was planning this I received a phone call from the ghetto saying they needed me immediately. When I arrived I saw the mother lying on the floor and not moving, certainly dead, whilst her daughter beside her was really messed up, filled with blood and wounds. I asked what was the matter. She could not even talk but was trembling in fear. Some of the residents who first talked to her told me what had happened; the girl had been brutally rapped. I rushed her to the hospital for medical attention. At first her situation stabilised and the doctors told me that she will be fine except for the shock. Unfortunately, the following day at around 5:00 a.m. the situation resumed and became even worse. After a long struggle she suddenly went into decline. I was shocked when the doctor told me that she had passed on. Her body is still in the hospital. I am now stranded.
