Story
I have had the pleasure of knowing Didsbury Childminding for 7 years, ever since being a nervous mummy to be. To date, Michelle and her team have cared for 3 of my babies and I truly couldn't be any happier with her ethos and attentiveness to every child. Didsbury Childminding is a real home from home with extra perks! The nursery strives to be the best it can be in all areas of child development and awareness and Michelle has worked around the clock to ensure her setting meets the needs of every child and promotes well being and happiness.
I've always felt a need to give back and this is my way of trying to achieve that. Didsbury Childminding do outdoor activities whenever possible, whether in walking distance or by catching a bus! Can you imagine what its like to catch a bus with 5-10 double buggies 🙈 They have also hired coaches in the past just to take them a couple of miles!
Having a mini bus will open up a world of possibilities for this nursery and the wonderful pre school children and babies that attend it. This would truly be the 'icing on the cake' for this outstanding and fully deserved setting. Please help these children experience the wider world and give what you can ❤
A few words from Michelle:
"At Didsbury Childminding it’s really important to keep improving and learning to provide the best care we can for the children in our care. With this, we are completing an accreditation in ‘the curiosity approach’. This looks at taking the setting back to nature and providing open ended play with lots of loose parts to ignite children’s imagination and inspire their learning. This has already had a huge impact on the setting where the children are much more engaged and calmer in a more homely environment.
Alongside this, we have a passion for children’s well-being and take seriously the impact of what we do on a child’s mental health. We have introduced ‘mindfulness’ into the setting. This means that all of the children are doing daily yoga sessions and taking part in activities that help them try to make sense of the way they are feeling and how to relax and look after themselves and each other.
We have recently become an accredited British Sign language nursery where all of our staff are fully trained and accredited in British Sign Language. This is now embedded into our practise and has help ease frustration in children with speech delay, SEN and aided verbal communication across the setting, making for a much calmer experience for all concerned.
We are also passionate about getting outdoors and letting the children experience as much as they can whilst in our care. We regularly go on day trips and love being able to provide this for the children that attend the setting. It’s exciting for us to plan these outings and we love exploring with our little ones."
