Story
We rescued Diesel the miniature horse from being shot when he was an unwanted foal. He may only be 34 inches small, but he is so clever, very cheeky and full of personality!
He has recently been diagnosed with EMS, a serious metabolic condition that can be managed with medication, regular blood tests, a special diet and a remedial farrier.

His medication, called Invokana, is absolutely life-changing for him.
He wears specialist "Squish Pads" - remedial boots - on his front hooves to keep him comfortable, on-the-move and out of pain. These cost £200 every 7 weeks.

He has to have blood tests every 8 weeks to monitor his insulin levels and check his liver health whilst on the medication. This costs over £300 every 8 weeks.
Diesel has to have a special diet to keep him healthy. He can't eat grass, as it is too high in sugar and makes him very sick, so he must stay in his grass-free paddock with soaked hay.
We're currently in a hay shortage crisis in the UK, and the price of a bale has more than doubled. It's been incredible anxiety-inducing as Diesel can only eat soaked hay, we can't rely on grass in his diet at all.

He also has a number of low-sugar forage treats and games to keep him mentally happy in his grass-free paddock, including "grassibix", which keeps him busy and stimulated as he can't go out and graze in the wider fields.
This brave little horse is living safely at our sanctuary, with specialist care and so much love - but we really need help with the cost of these incredible, life-saving treatments.

We're fundraising for the costs of Diesel's EMS management for this year, for 2026.
We'd be so very grateful for your help and support of this very special, little horse, if you can spare anything towards his ever-escalating costs.
