Story

Over a year now since we lost Ben. His legacy continues both personally and in the hockey community. Both family and friends have done several fund-raising events for Blood Cancer UK. The next one links three of his passions - family, hockey and golf. In mid-August I am going to walk the length of 10 of Ben’s favourite golf courses. I will do this around the hockey pitch at Coombe Dingle Bristol where he paced up and down whilst coaching Bristol University. Funds raised will be for Blood Cancer UK and Bristol Performance Sport, who have renamed their prestigious coach of the year award The Ben Dudley Coach of the Year Award.

For interest, the courses are;

Bristol (his spiritual home)

Bromsgrove (his first job ball collecting)

La Moye Jersey (where he played and “beat” Ian Woosnam)

Falcons Fire Florida (where he broke par gross)

Le Touquet France (his stag trip)

Celtic Manor (2010 course)

Belfry (Brabazon with his two brothers and I scrambling a 4 under team score)

St Andrews Old Course (where Ben and I had our photo taken on the iconic bridge)

Dartmouth (both courses – his second home)

For those wondering about the target amount, Ben was born in 1987. It is a great cause in memory of a great young man.
