Story

A Chase For Courageous Carson.

As a primary school teacher part of my job, i believe, is to inspire the children in my class. However, sometimes, its the children who inspire me, that is certainly the case with Carson.

Most people know I work at a small rural school where everyone is treated like family, our school motto being, "small but mighty". This perfectly sums up Carson. Carson is a young 5 year old boy in our school who is fighting his own battle against Desmoplastic Medulloblastoma- Who Grade 5 Non Metastatic cancer, a brain tumor diagnosed after many doctors visits last May. Carson and his wonderul family have spent most of the last 11 months back and forward to Edinburgh Sick kids hospital for his treatment, which included; surgery, Radiotherapy and chemotherapy. With two sisters in our school it is hard to not be affected daily by Carons battle and whenever he is in our school, his smile, lights up our classrooms.

Carson, is everyones friend, a cheeky wee boy, who loves nothing more than to have fun and play, he adores superheroes, he himself, is fast becoming my favourite superhero.

Gavin and I are by no means seasoned runners, but we have decided to complete Aberdeens Baker Hughes 10km race to try to raise some money for Carson and his family. Unfortunatley, these days, most people are effected by cancer, having lost someone very close to me this year, I feel inspired to challenge myself in order to try, anyway I can, to make a difference. Gavin and I would be very grateful for any sponsers we can get to try reach our target and to show Carson, just how much of a superhero he really is.

Thanks, Dionne x
