Story

This is a fundraiser on behalf of the Disability Interest Group of Salisbury to raise money for a wheelchair accessible swing to put in Salisbury.

This fundraiser is now closed, please see the new fundraiser on the DIGS page. Thank you for all of your hard work!! Every penny will go towards getting a fantastic new accessible swing.

DIGS is a group of disabled people campaigning for active change within the community and have already made a difference by having paths repaired in several parks and green spaces, campaigning for a sensory garden and teaching businesses what they can do to make themselves more accessible.

We are hoping to raise funds to buy accessible equipment to put in as many parks and green spaces as possible, starting with a wheelchair accessible swing in somehwere in Salisbury.

According to Scope, half of families with disabled children say their children can't play at their local playpark because it isn't accessible (49%).

1 in 10 are in danger of hurting themselves because of a lack of accessibility.

And 1 in 7 could not enjoy enjoy the playground as a family because their siblings couldn't access any equipment. (12th May 2022 https://www.scope.org.uk/media/press-releases/playground-accessibility/)

Every child has the right to safe and accessible play, adding accessible equipment like a wheelchair accessible swing can help disabled children feel included and allow them to play with their siblings.

All money raised will go straight towards the purchase of this swing.

Thank you for your time and consideration.
