I am currently studying aeronautical engineering and pilot studies at college in the hope of one day becoming a commercial pilot. I was fortunate to have a very good primary and secondary education and it was during my years at secondary school that I realised I wanted to fly aeroplanes for a living. My late grandfather and grandmother, who were very influential in my life, encouraged me to always aim high and to not be defined by my socio economic background.

I am the proud son of a single parent family and while some may use this as a reason to not dream big or aim high, I have been encouraged by my mother to be the best that I can possibly be and in my family also my education, hard work and big dreams are viewed as the route to all success.

Unfortunately my circumstances do not permit me to finance this very expensive ambition and I am therefore appealing for funding to reach my goals. I truly believe that if anyone has the drive to achieve their goals then they can be whatever they want to be. In turn I hope to one day become successful enough to invest in someone else who requires assistance to achieve their dreams.

I realise that seeking financial assistance is a big ask and I am wiling to help myself too. I have been working for a well known hotel chain for the past 10 months and I have managed to save up to buy and insure my own second hand motor car. I also covered the cost of all the tests and driving lessons. I maintain and service my car and pay for all my petrol without any assistance from my mother. This independent transport allows me to attend college, spend more time studying instead of waiting around for public transport and work more hours to earn more money in order to pay for my future education. I have learnt that hard work brings rewards and greater responsibilities. I also figured that I need to be able to get myself from one place to another safely before transporting hundreds of passengers!
