Weʼve raised £192 to HELP FUND "THE HANGOUT." ..CYC (Cleethorpes Youth Club )

Funded on Saturday, 23rd June 2018

Don't have time to donate right now?

    Story

"THE HANGOUT" CYC is the name of Cleethorpes Youth Club, it was named by the children themselves and also the logo was designed by the children themselves too.

As we are all aware there are problems across the area with some youngsters and teens causing problems , with acts of anti social behaviour, and dis respect, not all the children are the same, we have a fab lot at our club, we have come to realise after speaking with many of the teens that are causing issues that they are fed up or bored and have nothing to do, i believe that while ever theres a good strong youth club this will help give the children much needed social activities whilst also learning respect for others, and making friends, this for me is so important to help the kids and will help keep them from going off the rails later in life, and will also give them an amazing start to their young teen lifes. This is why we need your help to raise funds, .so we can try to make a difference.

The youth club has been running now for approx 10 mths, just recently we formed our own youth club committee, and opened our own bank account, which means we are able to at some point apply to funders, in the short term while they go through the process , the youth club has virtually nothing for the children activity wise, they at the moment have a air hockey table that was gifted to them and an old pool table top that has no legs and has to be set up on a fold up table, the cues are broken and have no tips, however the children still enjoy playing with them, they also have a football table top that also has no legs and has to be placed on a table top, they have limited paper and pens arts and crafts items, which will possible last for another month or so,.

The children listen to music and sing to songs from a mobile phone and microphone that they attach to a speaker, would be amazing if we were able to get them a real karaoke machine, there are some brilliant singers in the club, never know could be next x factor winner.

At the moment there is no sports equipment at all, only 3 light plastic balls they play dodge ball with,

In hot weather we go to the beach with the kids as its only a short walk from the youth club, but apart from the 3 balls have no outdoor equipment, games nets for volley ball rounders cricket, football, badminton tennis, swing ball that sort of thing.

The children have expressed a wish to play instruments we have a keyboard that doesn't work, would be great if we was able to buy musical instruments for them to play.

The youth club does have an x box one that was gifted to them recently which we are very very grateful for, which came with 1 game and 1 controller, the children love the x box but would be more fun to play together with multiple players and also have a choice of games to play,

    ......................................................................................................................................

Sadly though the youth club was broken into sometime between the 17TH May and the 18TH May, last Thursday or Friday morning, the thief stole the kids TV which now leave them with out the TV to hold our movie nights with them and also leave them without being able to play on their x box,.

    UPDATE.............

We have been Lucky enough to have a member of our group DN35 Crimewatch donate a TV to our Youth club which we are very very grateful for, so we are no longer in need of a TV for the kids, but would appreciate any help possible to raise the funds to be able to provide the HANGOUT Cleethorpes Youth Club with the items that the children are very much in need of.

As i placed a post on our group DN35 Crimewatch one member suggested that i set up a Just Giving page for the Youth club, which might help us to provide not only a replacement for the stolen TV but for other very much needed equipment.

    ..................................................................................................................................

The children that have been attending the youth club have attended every week since we opened up they never really complain they just love being there and socialising with their friends, from time to time they have expressed a wish to do other activities , but we have been unable to, it would be a fantastic and brilliant surprise for them if we were able to raise enough funds through this just giving page to be able to give them the much needed activities they need, it will help them all come together and create teams, working together, and more important have lots of fun,.

The items that we would need to raise funds for are such things as

A replacement TV for the one that was stolen, this week, 17th-18th May

x box controller and extra games ( age appropriate )

A pool table ....table tennis table....dart board,...... indoor and outdoor basket ball nets and balls,.... football nets and balls..... indoor and outdoor volley ball nets..... rounders / cricket sets, badminton and tennis sets, skipping ropes hula hoops swing ball...... arts crafts items paper paints pens pencils crayons, board games ....... musical instruments keyboard / guitar / violin / drums ?

The kids would love a Karaoke machine, to do their singing, ( we have some brilliant singers )

These are just items that they have expressed wishes about in the past, and about activities they would like to see in "THE HANGOUT " and if we were able to raise enough funds it would be so brilliant to be able to surprise and provide them with these items.

There isn't very much for them to do in our areas at the moment and socialising is something that all kids should be able to do in a safe environment, where parents know where their children are, and are being cared for..

There are approx 30 children and more attend our groups each week, there are 2 sessions for different ages which are as follows:-

    session 1 = 8yrs - 13 yrs 5pm to 6.30pm

    session 2 = 13+ 6pm - 7.45pm

We do have a face book group page you can look in on here is the link to the page

And of course our groups DN35 Crimewatch and all other DN groups where we try to help as many adults and children as possible

WE WOULD LIKE TO THANK ANYONE WHO IS ABLE TO HELP US AND SUPPORT US, WITH THIS JUST GIVING PAGE AND ALSO WITH THE YOUTH CLUB ITSELF.

    MANY THANKS IN ADVANCE.
