I've raised £1500 to Rescue, feed, spay, neuter and re-home dogs and puppies in Kiev, Ukraine before the winter sets in.

We have rescued 3 Dogs & 15 Puppies from a construction site in the village of Novi Petrivtsi which is located on the outskirts of Kiev, not so far from Obolon. All are currently in good health but are quickly outgrowing their current accommodation on the building site. The unusually hot weather for September 2017 has been a blessing in disguise for these brave little mutts, their parents & carers. But the winter will soon start to set in & heavy snows will follow. January is the coldest month with daytime temperatures usually around 0°C, but in some cases winter months can be much colder with temperatures falling far below zero, often around -20°C or lower with strong, bitterly cold northeasterly winds known as "Bora".
It is essential that we find suitable shelter to house these dogs until we can find good homes for them. Ukraine is a very poverty stricken country with an average net monthly salary of just £200 and an inflation rate of around 16%. As a result the welfare of homeless dogs is a very low priority for most of the residents of this amazingly resilient, warm & friendly nation.
Our goal is to quickly re-home as many of these dogs as possible and place the rest in care within Monasteries and Orphanages. Our priority is to find loving homes for them. A Rich home is not always a loving home & a loving home is not always a Wealthy home. We therefore wish to be in position to support loving families with ongoing medical care & food for these dogs where necessary. We will also be donating some essential items each month to Monasteries and Orphanages as an incentive (soap, toothpaste, toilet rolls, washing powder etc). A monthly expenses reports will be shared with all of those who donate. This continued interaction with the hosting families will enable us to keep an ongoing eye on the treatment and welfare of the dogs. Inevitably it is a long term commitment. But one which will bring immense satisfaction to all of those involved.
We are currently self funded & would welcome donations of any size, no matter how large or small. We would be interested in communicating with anybody who would like to sponsor an individual dog on a long term basis...... and last but not least, we would be delighted to hear from anybody who can offer a loving and caring home to one of these little diamonds, be it in Ukraine, United Kingdom or anywhere else in Europe. Whilst travelling around searching for suitable shelter for our rescued puppies, we came across this facility "Sirius" for homeless and abandoned animals in the village Fjodorovka, located just outside Kiev. It is a very sad site to see, but those involved at "SIrius" are doing an incredible job to save as many dogs and cats as possible.
Although it is not a suitable place for our beloved pups, we have decided to use any surplus funds from the total amount we raise via "Justgiving" to help support "Sirius" (http://www.dogcat.com.ua/en). Our plan is to pay the travel & lunch expenses of volunteers who would be willing to spend time at the shelter to show the animals some TLC and take as many as possible for regular long walks. There are approximately 2500 cats and dogs in care at "Sirius".
