Story
The Do it For Dan Pennine Way Walk ’22 is to:
1) promote informed discussion and awareness of the importance of maintaining good mental health.
2) Raise funds for the grassroots mental health campaign group CHARM
3) To support the call by CHARM for an independent enquiry into a number of dangerous failings of NHS Mental Health Services. Recently highlighted by the Parliamentary Ombudsman’s two-year investigation and damning verdict of Manchester Health & Care Commission’s Complaints and Feedback Service.

15 days agoMany and heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported Do it for Dan, You & Yours Pennine Way Walk. You were an important part of the team and thereby part of project's success. The hope is that the walk has and will encourage further a wider awareness of the importance of talking about and maintaining good mental health. More specifically that CHARM's call for an independent enquiry into the well evidenced serial failings of NHS Manchester Health & Care Commission's Mental Health Services!

15 days agoWhat a final day's walk! Day 20 (Wednesday 3rd August 2022) Byness to Kirk Yetholm (28 miles/45 km). Waking at 5am for a quick breakfast and a 5.30am start. After a steep climb out of Byness we enjoyed a steady climb, up and down over rolling and wet moorland. The wind was blustery most of the day but the driving rain ceased at about 10.30am. By eleven we'd covered 14 miles helpped by long stretches of roughly paved path. As the clouds lifted the views of the extensive Scottish Lowlands were astonishing. The last four miles were the longest!

16 days agoDay 20 (Wednesday 3rd August 2022) Byness to Kirk Yetholm (28 miles/45 km). A very early start to this the final and longest section of the Pennine Way Walk. Beginning with a steep climb out of this valley and the start of a long ridge route to the Cheviot. Along the way passing the dashed hopes of those who had to abandon this final leg because of lingering injuries, simple exhaustion and/or dispair. However, fingers crossed that we join that happy band of Pennine Wayfarers that complete and have enough energy lefr to celebrate! 👍
