Story
I am running the Valencia marathon on 20th November 2016 and am raising funds for my chosen charity Música Para Salvar Vidas (Music to Save Lives).
Música Para Salvar Vidas helps 34 orphaned children aged 4 to 21 in Kampala, Uganda to grow and learn through music and dance in order to become economically independent adults. Their principal objective is to restore human dignity and create a future for these children who have suffered numerous abuses and abandonment.
Music and dance are integrated into the daily lives of the children due to their therapeutic nature. The children develop talents which they can put to good use either in their professional or personal lives.
The discipline that is required to practise music and dance, together with the beauty of the melodies they learn has helped them to develop as sensitive and well-balanced young people.
Before coming to the orphanage, the children had experienced unimaginable suffering. The love and support provided in the orphanage restores their childhood and gives them the chance to develop as sociable children with a future ahead of them.
Música Para Salvar Vidas offers the children a home and pays for their education and all their needs as they grow up. Their mission is to support all the children in the orphanage until they move on to become independent adults as professional musicians, nurses, hair stylists, car mechanics, entrepreneurs or whatever career they choose to do.
Música Para Salvar Vidas is a non-profit organization based and legally registered in Madrid, Spain and Kampala, Uganda.
Spanish registration: Our registration number in the National Register of Associations i584233 and our CIF (National Identification Number) is G84097922.
Ugandan registration: Ministry of the Interior registration number S 5914/7292, P.O.Box. 7834.

8 years agoI completed the marathon in 3.58hrs- my knees lasted 42km, I strangely enjoyed the run and managed to spot my mum on the sideline (see photo) A message from Fabian at Music to save lives Thank you all - After 11 years living in Uganda running our orphanage I know the daily challenges and obstacles we overcome and difficulty of raising awareness for what we do. I can tell you without any uncertainty that it is only thanks to people like you that we manage to keep looking after young vulnerable children. For that we are truly grateful!
