Story

In the summer of 2019, we, Tom Barnes, Jack Robinson and Sam Taylor, will be participating in a two week expedition to Dominica. We will be gathering data to help with a series of biodiversity and climate change research projects. We all have a keen interest in geography and biology, therefore we feel that this expedition will be a great opportunity for us all to enhance our knowledge in these subject areas.

This expedition is being run by Operation Wallacea - a conservation research organisation. This is funded by, and relies on, teams of student volunteers who join expeditions for the opportunity to work on real-world research programmes alongside academic researchers.

We will be walking the distance from Abergavenny to Dominica over the course of the next 12 months. This distance is 4044 miles. We will do this by recording the amount of steps we take each day, and updating our website and/or social media to show our progress.

We are fundraising to contribute to the total cost of the expedition, including the payment to Operation Wallacea, flight costs, equipment, vaccines, insurance and the entrance fees for the country.
