Story
In July 2019, my little brother Willie died suddenly after a heart attack.
Willie was well-known in Scottish cricket circles as a player with Stirling County and Scotland before heading south to Warwickshire. He returned to play at Stirling, Watsonians and Penicuik as well as coaching in the Scottish youth set up.
I have set myself a challenge of walking 100,000 steps between April 1 and April 21 - which would have been Willie’s 60th birthday.
Money raised will go to Stirling County Cricket Club to purchase a defibrillator in his memory.
The British Heart Foundation will also benefit in memory of my niece Rona who died on April 8 after a heart attack

3 years agoThat’s the step challenge over. A walk around the Cruive Dykes with big brother Harry today took me to 191,314 and with the JustGiving page in its final hours, you’ve donated the fantastic sum of £4117. Add on £930 in cash and cheque donations and £5047 is the amazing total. There are so many people to thank for backing me but Catherine, Chris, Alasdair, Hailey, Olly and Emma have been great supporters, either through walking with me or geeing me on during the tough days. The funds raised are for a great cause. I thank you all ❤️

3 years agoLast day of the challenge tomorrow. The JustGiving page will close at midnight and currently we’re on £3817. It would be good to get it up to £4000 but even if we don’t it’s still a magnificent effort. I banked some cash donations today totalling £510 so we’re really at £4327 which is more than FIVE TIMES the original target set back on March 27. I’ve done almost 179,000 steps, we’ll see how we end up. I’ll wait till till tomorrow to hand out thanks so until then let’s keep going ❤️
