Story
In 2013 my mom Lorna was diagnosed with lung cancer. She had three fifths of her right lung removed, which was followed by 3 months of Chemotherapy. Until this illness, Lorna was an extremely fit and healthy woman who always had a good diet, had never been overweight and NEVER smoked in her life. She was x-rayed every 6 months ( which should have been scans ) for the next 3 years and told she was cancer free, right up until June 2016 and then told not to return for another 12 months. She then felt unwell at the beginning of November 2016. She saw a doctor and was then referred back to hospital, where the surgeon examined her and ordered an emergency scan. She had to wait a whopping 5 weeks for this emergency scan and in the meantime was given a high dose of steroids which caused a stroke. When she finally got her scan results, it showed that she was not cancer free at all and was in fact stage 4 terminal and was told she would not be offered any surgery. The NHS also failed to notice fluid around her heart, which actually was visible on the scan. It then took 6 months before they decided to do anything about, whilst still ignoring the cancer. She has fought this disease on her own for 9 months now, which will hopefully give you an idea of just how strong she is, but she has now lost nearly 4 stone and desperately needs this specialist treatment in Germany. This is her only chance to survive

7 years agoMy dad met with the oncologist this week for results of the latest scan and it wasn't good news. The tumour in her adrenal gland has doubled in size. This can be operated on but not in the U.K. This is why we are desperately trying to raise funds for this operation as soon as possible. Without the operation, she has been given 2-4 months to live. Thank you to everyone who has donated and raised awareness so far and we welcome any more help if people can.

7 years agoLorna was experiencing quite a lot of pain in the week and her doctor insisted palliative care drugs were the only option. She reluctantly agreed and within just one day, she had 2 major seizures and was rushed into hospital. She spent 24 hours on a trolley in A & E ( no beds again! ). But while she was there she had a scan which showed absolutely no cancer on her brain and despite her being extremely poorly, all her vital organs are in good condition and working as they should be. All the more reason to get her to Germany asap!!
