Story

For the last six months of her life, up until her death on Sunday 7th January 2024, Donna was superbly looked after by a team of carers at Cherry Tree House, Clowne.

Cherry Tree House provides live-in nursing and residential care for people experiencing a mental health illness, brain injury or neurological illness. Their approach is person centred and ensures residents feel at home and are well cared for, taking account of individual needs.

Donna always loved flowers and sitting in her garden at home. After arriving at Cherry Tree House, she would spend lots of time sat in the 'garden', a fenced-off grassed area to the front of the building. While it is accessible, there is not much in the way of plants or colour and recently the staff have been trying to raise money to buy plants and to smarten it up.

We would like to help provide a colourful sensory garden in Donna's memory. It would be great to raise enough money to allow the staff to have it properly laid out and planted with colour, so that residents and staff can have somewhere beautiful to sit in or wander through during nice weather.

Donna would have loved this and it would benefit all who work and live there. It would also go a little way towards demonstrating to the staff our thanks and appreciation for the way they looked after Donna. We will be forever grateful.
