In 2011 after being overwhelmed by life, my beautiful son Neil age 32, felt it was the best decision for him and his family to take his own life.

I have taken the most tragic event in my life and the lives of everyone who loved Neil and set up a charity in Neil's memory.

Neil’s Hugs Foundation became an official charity in December 2016.
We are currently working behind the scenes recruiting Volunteers, setting up website, FB pages and fundraising as we have no money yet.

Charity Objective
The reason the charity was set up was to assist people in Scotland who are affected by the attempt or completed suicide of a family member or friend.

Charity Aim
To raise awareness and reduce the stigma attached to suicide.

To support the family member or friend who are struggling to cope with a loved ones attempted or completed suicide.

There are 4 people all taking part in Gung-Ho on the 13th May 2017 in Edinburgh its a 5k fun event.

We are not 100% sure what the money will be used for in the organisation as we are brand new and have not approached anyone for funding yet, it could be, room hire for a family/friends to have a comfortable place to meet with one of our volunteers for support, training courses for our volunteers, advice booklets, joining just giving as a charity, everything has a price etc. The things we need money for are unlimited but what I can tell you is that we will make sure every penny we raise will be used wisely.
