Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page. Since 2017, we have raised over £20,000 which is shared between the above charities and we hope we can raise more this year to enable them to continue the support they give others.

At Wombwell Karting we are holding the Joe Dale Cup on 8th/9th August. Not only are we are hoping to raise funds leading up to this event and during, we aim to raise awareness around the problems and suffering Asthma can cause.

The reason we fundraise:

Sadly, on Friday 23rd June 2017, Junior X30 driver Joe Dale died after having an asthma attack whilst at the park with friends. He had not had any previous asthma attacks so didn’t think he needed to take his inhaler with him - as a lot of people do. This attack was severe and caused Joe’s lungs to collapse and despite the efforts of Yorkshire Air Ambulance and the local hospital they could not save him.

Joe, only really raced at Wombwell, his parents still support the club and they regularly attend Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice as they cared for Joe and gave his family much needed support.

Joe is always in our thoughts and his memory will live on for as long as I am Secretary at the club, as he holds a place in my heart.

Your donations will be gratefully received via this page and every penny given will support very worthy causes especially Asthma UK - to help highlight the dangers of Asthma and the importance of always carrying your inhaler - even if you don't think it's that bad!
