Story

I’m going to run the Ashtead 10km on Sunday 17th September and my two boys will run the 2km race. I would love to raise some funds for

Epsom League of friends - Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU)

A cause very close to my heart, here’s why

This is an extract from my personal diary that I’ve never shared before but when I read it back, it gives me all the motivation I need to get out there and train for the event, hopefully it might encourage you to sponsor me to raise funds towards all the specialist equipment that such a ward requires

“ …. coming round from my anaesthetic the nursing staff told me that I had a Son and he weighed 3lb 13oz. Our new baby was in the SCBU ward with various wires and tubes in him. Neill had visited him briefly but there was not much we could do for him, he was in the care of the nurses on the ward. I was eventually reunited with our first born about 13 hours after his birth in the afternoon of 16th September 2008. It was the most magical and painful moment of my life to stare at this helpless tiny baby in an incubator but he was ours.”

Moving on to the present day, many of you will know that William served the same challenges as Thomas, of being born 7 weeks premature and once again we found ourselves in the hands of the wonderful staff of Epsom SCBU.

Now 9 years on to the day, Thomas, William and I will run to raise funds to give something back, please help us……

A MASSIVE THANK YOU IN ADVANCE
