Story
All Saints, East Horndon, is a much loved historic redundant church (grade 2* listed) near Brentwood, in Essex. Its red brick walls and tower stand proudly on the hill overlooking the A127 and a small group of volunteers run open days, concerts and plays here to make use of this fantastic building in respectful ways, and to invite the local community in.
In December last year we were the victim of vandalism and criminal damage, which completely destroyed the tower door. We already raised £1,100 pounds towards the repairs (thank you SO much to those who already donated), but the quote from the specialist contractors has now finally come in at £2,000 incl of VAT. This is high due to the listed nature to the church, the security requirements, and the time and workmanship involved.
We are therefore continuing with our fundraising efforts to try and get to the total amount of £2,000 (£900 remaining) and hope to be able to get the door replaced in 2020.
Thank you for all your support for this wonderful building!
