Story
I'm raising £5,000
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Fourteen-year-old Liv and her family received a devastating blow last month when she was diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma – a rare soft tissue cancer. A gruelling course of treatment has begun, and Liv is bravely sharing her journey on Facebook – ‘Dora and Me. A story of the unwanted explorer’.
The local community are rallying round to show their love and support with a series of fundraising events – the first of which will take place at Bishop’s Waltham’s Crown Inn on Saturday 22 November 2025 at 3pm. Friends and family are asking locals to join them for an afternoon of live music and raffle prizes, whilst some close to Liv have their heads shaved to help raise money.
Liv’s mum, Jenny, a midwife at QA Hospital in Portsmouth has taken time off work to care for Liv, whose treatment will require regular travel to Winchester, Southampton and London over the coming months. A close family of four, dad Simon, and brother Finn, an 11-year-old student at Swanmore College, are trying to keep things as normal at home as possible.
Driving fundraising for the family is close friend Michelle Barrett & uncle Tom who say: There is so much love out there for Liv, Jenny, Simon and Finn. We want to channel our efforts into something tangible to help in any way possible. Easing some financial worries will go a long way and give Jenny and Simon some breathing space to fight this fight.”
