Story

Launched in March 2020 as a response to the potential critical impact COVID-19 would have to the most vulnerable in our community, a group for 4 volunteers set up a food donation drop in a local church, within days we had 50 referrals for food boxes from people who were self isolating, had lost their job, were caring for someone vulnerable or where vulnerable themselves.

To date we have provided food and hygiene boxes to over 1500 individuals, spread across Dorset and demand is growing. over 50% of our boxes are for carers, and increasingly young families.

Now a team of over 30 volunteers, we have big future plans to sustain this work, having identified a clear need for our Community Kitchen to continue long after COVID-19 has gone, we are building connections and networks to allow us to grow. We are for the community, run by the community.

We are completely reliant on community donations, volunteers and good will, the money we raise will go towards keeping our supply chains open, allowing us to buy in bulk to increase capacity to help everyone, technology to allow us to keep increasing our geographic reach and investing in our future plans to grow into something the community really wants and needs long term.
