Story
Dorchester Community Nursery School has been a part of the Dorchester community for nearly 60 years. We have welcomed generations of families throughout the years and now we need your help more than ever before!
What is that saying, that everything happens in threes?! Well that is exactly what has happened this year. After successfully fundraising in 2022 we had the funds ready to replace our roof and cladding, however, the winter has not been kind to us and we realise that our climbing frame is rotting and unsafe for the children to use. We now find ourselves needing to prioritise the children and their enjoyment in the garden and our fundraising money must replace the climbing frame. This meaning we have to start again to raise the funds for the maintenance of our roof and the cladding within this next year.
A little bit about us at Dorchester Community Nursery School:
DCNS offers high quality pre-school education in a purpose built Nursery with a spacious main hall, a quiet room and a large reception area. The Nursery is very well equipped with a wide selection of stimulating toys and activities. There is a superb, safe enclosed garden with ride on toys, slide and climbing activities, adventure sand pit, mud kitchen and vegetable garden. Our “Outdoor Classroom” enables the children to play outside even on wet days. We have well qualified, experienced, caring staff, who genuinely enjoy working at the Nursery, enabling us to provide the very best in pre-school nursery education. The Nursery takes children from the age of 2 years 6 months up until they start school. We offer full day or morning/afternoon sessions for all children.
Our past fundraising efforts have enabled us to annually update the children's resources i.e we have created a forest school area for our children to explore and learn, updated the outside classroom provision, purchased sensory and emotion toys etc. This year we would like to continue this by adding our climbing frame to the list.
We have currently raised £1550 since September 2022 by the following events, start of term disco, sponsored conker strings, quiz night, Christmas cards and our Nativity play.
Our planned events include: Valentines DCNS Bake off, Easter Tombola, Summer Fayre and Silent Auction to name just a few.
