Established in early 2022, after a series of Taster Sessions in 2021, Dorset Demons are the only wheelchair basketball club in the county of Dorset.

The club is currently made up from a mixture of both disabled and non-disabled adults who attend their sessions for a number of reasons including social interaction, some of the players don’t see many people in their day to day lives, to keep fit and healthy to aid them with there impairment and to compete in a fast action, high paced sport.

The competitive players compete in British Wheelchair Basketball’s Inspire League South West, which includes teams as far away as Truro in Cornwall, and they won this league the 2023/24 season.

The club incurs many expenses for example hire of a basketball court for training and for games and the repair and upkeep of the specialised basketball wheelchairs which regularly get damaged due to the intense nature of the sport.

To help cover these costs the members of the club are attempting to actively travel, either push, walk, run or cycle, a combined total of 1024 miles, the area of Dorset. To encourage them in this feat would you kindly consider making a donation to the club it would be greatly appreciated.
