Story
I started running during lockdown in May 2020. At this point I couldn’t run up my street without being unable to breathe so I downloaded the Couch to 5K app and Sarah Millican talked me through completing my first 5K. Since then I’ve found a real love for running and will be completing my biggest challenge yet on Sunday 3rd October - the virtual London Marathon.
I’ve decided to use this to support two causes very close to my heart -
Community Kindness - Thanet is a charity that was set up by my wife in November last year and provides support to families and individuals across Thanet who are experiencing hardship. The charity provides brand new gifts for special occasions such as Christmas, birthdays and Easter when a referral for support is made by a professional organisation.
Mental Health - Our daughter started self-harming when she was 14 years old. In August 2017 we found out that she had previously attempted to take her own life and other attempts have since followed. Every day is a struggle for her with her mental health. My wife also battles with anxiety and depression which can at times be very debilitating for her. Our lives have changed beyond recognition because of mental health challenges and this is something that is now impacting more and more families. Mental Health charities do some phenomenal work with very limited funding.
