Story

Whilst on holiday in Koh Samui, Thailand I visited the Dog & Cat Rescue Samui Foundation in Ban Taling Ngam. It is home for over 200 rescued dogs & cats. Their work focuses on providing vaccinations against rabies, hepatitis, parvovirus, distemper, parainfluenza and leptospirosis. They offer free sterilisation and have a pick up service that operates out of hours if you find an injured animal in need. The foundation does not however, have a blood diagnostics machine. This piece of equipment will enable them to identify what treatment is required, rather than relying on superficial diagnosis only.

Visiting the dog & cat rescue shelter was both heartbreaking & heartwarming at the same time. We spent the day playing with them & changing the bandages of those that were injured.

This photo shows ‘Hopper’. Hopper was brought into the shelter having been involved in a motorcycle accident that has left her with part of her back paw missing. It was reassuring to hear that they have fewer cases of animal cruelty - although it is equally disheartening to hear that we are often the cause of their pain - more often they are found with injuries on the side of the road. We instantly fell in love with her resilience & playfulness & now sponsor her monthly to help with her medical bills. You can do this too through paypal on the following link: PayPal Donation

I have thought of this shelter every day since leaving it. The volunteers work tirelessly to clean the wounds of animals that are infested with maggots, clean fur thats been riddled with ticks, bandage deliberate knife inflicted wounds & treat severe skin conditions of mange, amongst so much more.

But with rescue centres comes copious medical bills. They need help to raise funds for such simple necessities, such as advocate & prescriptive foods, and also for more complex devices to help meet the dog’s needs. This photo shows Freddy. He has a broken backbone as a result of a traffic accident and is currently waiting for a dog wheelchair to see if this will help him.

What I love most about this foundation - unlike many others I have seen - is that they do not try to horrify people into donating to their cause. Their stories are full of hope. We are given so many opportunities in life to make a REAL difference, to make MEANINGFUL differences in the world. If we worked together we could make a CHANGE.

I really believe that this is my calling. To provide a voice to those without one. Not by using scare tactics & tacky marketing, but by EDUCATING. I read this quote somewhere and it really resonated with me.

‘Until we know better, we can’t be better’.

We really need to be better. ❤️

And if you’re not compelled to help this cause - then that’s fine - we need all sorts of healers, teachers, recyclers, volunteers, activists, feminists, doers, believers, carers. But if you do, then please, every little really does help. For every £1 donated I will double it. (Up to £1000). Lets get this started TODAY.

THANK YOU!!!
