Story
I'm raising £10,000 for Alexander's wonderful friend, Jacob. Alexander and Jacob were born a few days apart. Neither of our families knew just what a challenging future they would both face as we enjoyed the newborn bubbles together. Here is Jacob's story.
After some concerns about development delays, Jacob started having seizures at two years old and was sadly diagnosed with lissencephaly, which is a rare congenital brain malformation.
Although not much is known about the prognosis, we know his life will be limited and in order for his childhood to be as comfortable and joyful as possible, his family are in desperate need of an extension. He is currently in a box room, with no space to play, explore or use his equipment. His Mum and Dad dedicate everything to Jacob and his two sisters, but Laura cannot work as she is his sole carer and they rely entirely on Stu's wage.
The extension will cost over £85000, and the Council Disabled Facilities grant will only cover £50,000, with £10k of this being set aside for the support equipment. The remaining ~£45k will have to be borrowed at a huge interest rate, and I want to minimise the amount of that as much as possible for the family.
Anything you can spare would be so appreciated, as every £1 raised is one less pound this wonderful family has to borrow. Since Alexander's devastating death, the family have been so kind and supportive to us when they have such a lot to deal with at home themselves. Please help us to give Jacob the safe, comfortable and engaging home space he deserves by donating and sharing! Thank you so much.
