Story

The Hope and Care project treats patients in the remote villages of northern Pakistan who do not have the means to pay for medical care . The project is providing free clinics to villagers in dire need of medicines, health screening and education. In the last four camps the volunteer medical teams treated over 200 people in a day. These camps highlight the areas of greatest need. The doctors see cases of suspected hepatitis and stomach ulcers, malnourishment in children, and the need for education during pregnancy. Each camp requires supplies of antibiotics, analgesics, antipyretic painkillers, medicines for diabetes and multivitamins. The average cost of a camp is £150 for medicines and travel. The doctors and technicians give their time for free.

At a successful camp on 3 December 2017 in Mardan, 37 miles north east of Peshawar in northern Pakistan, the Hope and Care doctors gave free medicines and consultations to more than 300 patients. The medical team consisted of a specialist in gastroenterology and a doctor, a female doctor who ran a pregnancy clinic and two technicians to operate the ultrasound and ECG equipment. More people attended than expected so the team ran out of medicine.

The latest camp took place in Mardan, 37 miles north east of Peshawar on 3rd December 2017.
