Story

Beyond The Ultimate Ice Ultra in the Arctic Circle

On the 16th February 2019 I fly out to Stockholm with the end destination being North Sweden inside the Arctic circle. The race is a 5 day stage event totalling 140 miles, running in temperatures of upto -35°C. Day 1 - 37 miles, Day 2 - 27 miles, Day 3 - 26 miles, Day 4 - 40 miles and just 10 miles on Day 5! During the race I will also be self-sufficient, which means I have to carry all my food, water and clothing, but thankfully we get to sleep in tents and cabins along the route. As this is a once in a lifetime experience, there are 20 entrants from around the world, we have decided to use it to help raise funds for Amber’s Appeal.

Amber is a 13 year old girl who for the last 7 years has suffered from a very rare form of brain tumour and who has had countless operations and treatments. Now the family are raising funds for her to have less toxic treatment in Germany on a monthly basis, but as you can imagine, that costs lots of money. I am hoping to raise £7500 to help with the cost of this alternative treatment, so I’d be really grateful if you could click on the donate button and give what you can, even if it’s just a few pounds. I’m doing the race, but it’s really about supporting Amber’s Appeal. Thanks for reading, Duncan.
