Story

Having climbed a few mountains to raise money for charities but with my dodgy (and ageing) left knee, I have decided to take to the sea, it must be the Aquarian in me, and kayak the English Channel with one of my besties Chris Walkden. The cost will be fully funded by us with all money raised going to two great foundations.

So I will be raising money for two youngsters who were taken from us far too young...

Molly McLaren was a friend from my local gym in Kent, she was happy, smiling and a part of a close group that worked out regularly. She was murdered by her ex boyfriend in a horrific attack. People who were close to Molly, will know that she battled with bulimia and subsequently anxiety, as a result of an eating disorder, for many years of her life. Instead of letting this beat her, she shared her own story in the hopes of empowering others around her. Her family wanted to create a legacy in her honour by channelling her passion and drive to create the most positive outcome possible through the creation of The Molly McLaren Foundation. More information can be found on the foundation at www.themollymclarenfoundation.co.uk

Steve Reader, Tyler's Dad, is someone who I've got to know at my gym in Harpenden. In November 2015, Tyler was admitted to Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) after being diagnosed with an aggressive form of group A streptococcus and developed Sepsis.
From the moment Tyler arrived at GOSH he had the undivided attention of an amazing team of people. There were some very special people looking after Tyler that evening. Not just from their ability as medical practitioners, but also in the way they cared for him. They were incredible, trying absolutely everything to save Tyler. Sadly, his little body couldn’t keep battling. It gave up after his sixth cardiac arrest, just as the team were preparing him for a heart and lung bypass.
Tyler’s memory, and the joy he brought to so many, lives on through his family and friends in the work they do for the Tyler Reader Brighter Future Fund
