Story
On Tuesday, October 28, Jamaica — the country and communities that have given me so much — were struck by Category 5 Hurricane Melissa, bringing winds of up to 185 mph and torrential rainfall. The devastation has been catastrophic: thousands displaced, lives lost, vegetation destroyed, and homes flattened. Entire communities have been left without shelter, food, clean water, or other basic necessities. As shown on major news networks, this is likely the most powerful storm to hit Jamaica in over 38 years.
Among those severely affected are my own family and friends, many of whom have reached out for any support possible. With my limited personal resources, I can only do so much — which is why I’ve decided to act.
In partnership with the Crystal Care Foundation, we are working to raise at least £20,000 to bring urgent relief to residents in Spring Mount, Johns Hall, Anchovy, Cambridge, and surrounding areas of St. James who are in desperate need of help.
While the government has launched a national donation page and several major charities are already on the ground, your contribution can make a direct difference to communities that are usually unrepresented. Every pound, dollar and euro donated will go toward providing food, clean water, clothing, baby supplies, and materials for temporary shelter.
Thank you for your kindness, compassion, and generosity during this critical time.
