    Story

Dustin Shepherd - 'Keep on Moving'

Our darling Dustin was involved in a head on collision on Friday night in Zimbabwe. He has a fractured scull and a broken leg. He had a seven hour operation on Saturday 3rd June, and is heavily sedated at the moment. His leg has not been attended to yet, but will be in the next few weeks. Attached for more information on Dustin's progress so far, are some updates from Colin, his dad.

Dustin is responding well to voice messages, so if you would like to send one via WhatsApp please contact us for the telephone number, he would love to hear from you!

Although Dustin has received amazing care so far, this is only the beginning of a very long road to recovery. Only so much of the medical expenses are covered under his medical aid, the shortfall is already in the 1000s of USD.

We are still unsure what care he will require, and whether Zimbabwe will be able to provide it, so we are being proactive and thinking ahead.
We have therefore set up this page to start fundraising, so that we can ensure Dustin gets the care he needs. Receiving healthcare shouldn't be a concern, but unfortunately in third world countries it always is. If you would like to donate, we would be eternally grateful.

Please keep Dustin, his family and our precious Alex (Dustins girlfriend) in your prayers. Thank you so much for your messages received, the fantastic support and positive vibes from around the world already.

    Lots of love,
    Our Family

His right arm is still paralyzed but this week there was some feeling in the top of his arm. We are thrilled at his progress and everyone who has put in so much effort to help him as well. There are wonderful people in Zim who are so ready to help with their expertise. We are looking forward eagerly at each and every step this determined young man makes in his recovery and determined he is! Nothing is holding him back.

Hello everyone, Janet has been to the U.K. this week to see about rehab for Dust. After lots of research the decision has been made to keep him in Zimbabwe. The care he has received has been amazing and he is progressing beyond all expectations. He is having physio, occupational therapy, speech therapy, holistic treatments, hyperbaric and it is working, there is no doubt about that. Dust is now saying a few words, has walked a few steps with the help of a frame.
