The plan
In March 2023 four friends, Dylan Haden and Gail Haden from Pembrokeshire, Donald Stewart from Glasgow and Charlie Denny from Aberdeenshire will be heading to the Gambia in West Africa to deliver two vehicles to a charity that helped to support my late father Chris Haden in his last hours.
Kunkujang clinic, orphanage and Darra run by Fatou Gaye.

On the 14th of April 2021 we lost Chris Haden, to Covid.
Chris had moved to the Gambia in 2014 after driving down in 2012 with a group called the Rainbow Run to support a charity called shine Africa, this is were the Welsh/Scottish friendship was formed.
Fatou’s clinic provides Maternity, family planning and Minor injury services plus she also provides shelter for both girls and boys who have lost their parents
We are close to Fatou and her clinic, from previous run in 2012
Chris caught Covid in March 2021 and spent several weeks in hospital in Banjul.
He returned to his compound and seemed to be getting better and on the 13th of April Charlie spoke to Chris.
The following morning we received the news from Fatou that Chris had died on his way to the clinic.
During Chris’s final days and hours Fatou and her staff had gone out of their way to care and try and make him comfortable.
In return for the care that she provided we are making gifts to the clinic of 2 ex-patient transport minibuses retired from sevice where I work
These will filled with medical equipment and clothing.
We intend to drive these vehicles from the UK to the Gambia in March 2023. Our route will be across the Irish sea and meet up in Rosslare
Then from Rosslare to Bilbao in Spain drive through Spain to Algeciras, cross the straights of Gibraltar to Tangier, through Morocco via Marrakesh to Mauritania then to Senegal from there to Banjul in Gambia. We hope to take 14 days to do the trip. This is roughly 3000 miles of driving.
We are looking for help sponsorship and support to get these vehicles down to the clinic,
