Story
On 17 September our family is undertaking a tennis endurance challenge in memory of Dylan Rich. Dylan passed away a year ago when he suffered a sudden cardiac arrest whilst playing football - he was just 17 years old. Dylan was our Godson and like so many people including his courageous family and friends, we miss him dearly. Dylan was incredibly talented, positive and humble - a true inspiration.
Dylan loved sport, including football and tennis, and was passionate about looking after the planet. Dylan's Legacy Fund is supporting these areas, firstly to improve access to sport and physical activity for young people in the Nottinghamshire area, particularly where there are barriers to participation. For example the Fund is working with a charity partner, Belong, providing regular football coaching for young refugees, asylum seekers and migrants, training coaches in the community and enabling teams to enter leagues.
Secondly Dylan's Fund is supporting nature conservancy and sustainable employment for local people in Kenya. For example working with the community-owned Nashulai Maasai Conservancy, helping to fund more rangers to increase nature conservancy as well as river clean ups and tree planting. Supporting both the local wildlife and employment prospects for local people meant a lot to Dylan after he visited Kenya in 2019. With the help of friends, we are hoping to hit about 10,000 shots over 7 hours. With sincere thanks for the support of our special guest Tim Henman as well as the Avondale Tennis Club in Fleet, we hope that you will consider sponsoring us if you are able. Thank you, Chris, Carole & Hope.
