Story

At the age of 41, one of my best friends was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease, an illness that his Dad also battled from 2003 - 2005.

Now at 43, Darren is reliant of his friends and family for his everday living. He can no longer work, has very limited mobility and his speech is affected. His medical team and MND team can provide such things as access to eye gaze technology and physio therapy but in a small terrace house there is a limit to what adaptations can be made and Darren urgently needs a ground floor extension to provide him with an accessible wet room and bedroom.

Whilst the council will of course be part funding this necessity, he will need to contribute heavily, so I have decided to run my first half marathon on Sunday 1st July to help a little bit and hopefully raise some money towards getting this much needed resource built which would provide such an incredibly invaluable benefit to Darren and also to those who care for him on a daily basis. It would allow his young children to feel more confident in their dad's safety and wellbeing and give them all a space that meets their needs.

Please help me to make Darren’s life with with horiible disease just a little bit easier for him and his family. Thank you 🧡💙🧡💙
