    Story

    Earlston Paths Group

For the last sixteen years the volunteers of Earlston Paths Group have created and maintained a local footpath network around our community.

The routes have seen an enormous increase in the number of walkers, runners and cyclists using them in all weathers since the start of the pandemic lockdowns in early 2020. At the same time we have been unable to carry out our normal care and maintenance due to the Covid restrictions.

The small amount of money raised from our Walks Around Earlston and Redpath booklet, sold in local shops, has also dried up as businesses have been forced to close for long periods.

As the footpaths have taken a serious bashing the group need to raise funds to carry out immediate and longer term repairs, ensuring paths are still here for use now and into the future. Materials for two recent projects on the highly popular Leader Water Path have cost over £500 and that's just the start of the group's plans for this year.

We'd like to send a, very BIG thank you to everyone who took the time to visit our this Page, now closed, and gave so generously to support work on the footpaths around Earlston and Redpath. The final grand total is even more than you see here. Not everyone donates on line but that doesn't stop them! We also received a total of another £225 from 12 others, making the grand total £2928 - something we could never have imagined when we kicked off with the target of raising £500. Be assured - every penny will be spent on path related work.
