I'm raising £1100 to Early Intervention - Aberdeen Kilt Walk Wee Wander

Story

There was a time when my young autistic son was excluded from play — a time that broke my heart and fueled a determination to make sure no other parent feels that same sense of hurt, rejection and isolation.

Early Intervention (Aberdeen) is a volunteer-led safe space for Neurodivergent children and their families. We have operated every week from Ferryhill Community Centre for over 3 Years. Through parents own fundraising efforts, we have facilitated therapy services for our children, including speech and language therapy, Art Therapy, Music Therapy and Animal Assisted Therapy.

As public services continue to deprive our children of their rights, our collective experiences have shaped our mission and drive to ensure that children and families receive the timely, tailored support they need.

We also work in collaboration with a number of local organisations, arranging themed parties, playdates and exciting experiences and workshops for children with disabilities and additional support needs.

Although Early Intervention operates entirely with volunteers and has no paid staff, all funding grants and donations to date have helped cover the costs of private therapists and exciting activities and opportunities for our children.

We are proud to be transparent in everything we do — follow us on Facebook to see our work in action.
