Story

Jeeps for Peace is a fantastic charity, supplying the people of Ukraine with used 4x4 vehicles to be deployed where they are needed most.

Vehicles nearing the end of their life in the UK are invaluable in Ukraine right now, and provide vital resources to those struggling to survive the war zone.

Cal Reed and Grant Bruce have volunteered to help Jeeps for Peace, initially driving a 4x4 from Scotland, across Europe, delivering it into Ukraine in Autumn this year with a view to future trips.

With the support of friends, colleagues and the wider emergency services community, we are hoping to fill the vehicle with as much medical and humanitarian kit as we can. Equipment that might not be useable here could very much be used over there.

Initial minimum cost for this will be 1500GBP to complete one trip - we are happy to do the driving but we cannot fund the trip alone....and we would like to make more than one delivery!

The trip from Scotland is a shade short of 2000 miles all in and aside from the ferry will be a lot of driving, ending in a place where the support is very much needed.

Right hand drive pickup trucks have become surprise heroes on the Ukrainian frontline.

The Ukrainian media has hailed these vehicles as the “rock stars of the Eastern front” because they are able to deliver supplies to cut-off areas and evacuate wounded personnel.

Drivers prefer them as Russian snipers tend to target the passenger seat assuming that it's a left hand drive vehicle. Yet, the average life expectancy for one of these vehicles on the frontline is around 90 days. By then, it is likely to have burnt out or been blown up.

This is why a constant supply of cheap vehicles is required.

Hard to imagine having a situation like that outside your front door, so we're doing just a wee bit to help- if you're able to spare a few ££ it would really make a massive difference.

Please, please give what you can to support and help us do our part to back this wonderful charity!
