In June of this year as soon as I finish up my exams, I will be flying to Bali, Indonesia, to take part in what I am confident will be a truly rewarding experience. The 4 week placement focuses on promoting positive mental health to a diverse range of client groups. In teams, volunteers will organise and run projects at various government initiatives and schools, psychiatric facilities as well as community outreach programmes.

In Bali, mental health still has a stigma attached to it and the limited resources mean that people who suffer from mental health issues do not always get the support they need. Using innovative ways to prompt open discussion about mental health, I hope to empower the individuals I work with.
