Story
We are Amanda & Blair, a retired couple living in South Norfolk. We have set up this Just Giving page to try and help a friend of ours in The Gambia who is in desperate need of some help. We have known Ebrima for over two years and have been able to support him through the loss of several members of his family and through very serious bouts of malaria but his current situation is beyond our capacity to help. Ebrima and his young sisters and brother were recently made homeless after their shelter collapsed after very heavy rainfall. They are currently staying in a rundown shelter that does not have a door or window and is not a safe or secure place for them to stay in. We have set a target of £5000 for this appeal as this is what will be required to get them a safe and secure place to live.
Ebrima is a kind, thoughtful and generous young man who would help anyone he could. However, despite his best efforts, he has currently no means of supporting himself or his sisters and brother. Therefore we have set this page up to ask if there is anyone out there who could make a contribution to help him get a place to stay that will give him and his family some protection from the rain and mosquitoes (it is the rainy season in The Gambia). We have asked Ebrima to write about his situation in his own words and they are below.
I am ebrima s jobe, I am 25 years old. I am from the Gambia, I live in a village
called Kembujeh near a town called Brikama. I am the elder in my family. I lost both parents my aunt and little sister too, now am living with my little brother and sisters called Isatou, Yaya and little Lamin. We live in a hard life because we are homeless, we sleep outside with lots of insects and sickness and we find it hard to get food sometimes, and when it rains all of our cloths and help sometimes we remained with our wet cloths till sun rise and get dry. We don't have a shelter or place to called home or house, we find it hard to get help from here because everyone is poor and needs help.
Life is like hell for me and the little ones. We are very proud to meet our dearest friends and family called Manda and Blair Brown thank God meeting them keeps us getting hope and strength in life, the help us keep moving and we are very proud and honour to meet them, and we will always love them. We are here asking for any kind of help to keeps me and my little ones stay a life long and get a better living condition is highly needed we are always staying strong with lots of love. God bless you all, much love.
So, if you feel you can make a contribution to help Ebrima, please do. We will ensure the money gets to him. Below are some pictures of Ebrima and his brother & sisters and what happened to the shelter they were living in.
