Help us Renovate the local community's Egglescliffe Parish Hall
Egglescliffe Parish Hall is owned by St John's Parish Church, Egglescliffe. The former Egglescliffe Junior School has been leased and managed by a volunteer committee comprised of local residents' along with some of the hall's regular users for many decades, but has not been fully refurbished since the 1970's.
Many local groups use the hall including, Brownies; W.I.; various Toddler and Infant groups; Keep Fit classes; Gardening Club; Guides and many more. It is used by the local and wider community for children's and adult parties, is used for Ward Surgeries, as a polling station and a whole lot more!
Maintaining it, in its' current condition is proving very expensive as each problem repair is resolved another arises. Inevitably the hall may close with a great loss to the local community resulting.
The Egglescliffe Renovation Group (ERG), is a constituted community group, made up of members from local residents, local organisations and Councils. The aim of the ERG is to identify appropriate local initiatives to help regenerate, renovate and improve the Egglescliffe area for the benefit of the local community and beyond. While that remains a broad objective, the immediate priority and focus, is to renovate the somewhat dilapidated former school building, bringing into the 21st century a building that not only has local historic significance, but is a valued community asset, used by a host of regular community groups.
It is envisioned that not only will Egglescliffe benefit from retaining a local community hall, but the wider community will too benefit from using this amenity on their doorstep.
Members of the ERG are all volunteers giving their spare time in a quest to make a difference to everyone.
Any individual donations will be welcome, no matter how small and we would like to also encourage local business to get involved and to perhaps consider a level of sponsorship for the project as part of a corporate CSR initiative.
Help us make a difference for the whole community and beyond!
