    Story

When you get something as unexpected as pancreatic cancer, you don't fight it alone. You can't do that, you can't. You do that together. Together with your family, with your friends, with your family, with all those who are involved with you. And, of course, science, in the hope that new research and new resources and treatments can help you in this unequal battle. A team that works together, that works together to be able to control something as unfair as (pancreatic) cancer and preferably to stop it naturally. Welcome to team Harald!

This is my friend Harald, only 54 years old. Enjoyed life to the fullest, (making memories with) family, doing fun things with friends, the people around him. And we still enjoy it as much as possible! Even though he has known since July 2022 that he has pancreatic cancer, with metastases. Incurable. And in the meantime, of course, keep hoping for that miracle (unfortunately that has not been allowed to be the case (so far) ... latest Outlook is that he has a month or 2, but its looking likely he won't be here when we do the big charity ride/run in October on Ameland in the Netherlands

What is so important in this fight? Without a doubt quality of life! That is paramount. Whether that is for half a year, 1 year, 2 years, 5 or 10 years. What you want and what you can do, in the time you have left, that's what Iyou go for. And as difficult as that was and is at times, he was able to enjoy it.

The patient and his/her wishes and needs must be central to the development of science. With the ultimate goal, of course, that we can be healed, without having to compromise too much on our quality of life. As a team, because that works!
