I've raised £998 to to make hiking and the outdoors more accessible for LGBTIQ+ folks.

Edinburgh Queer Hiking promotes queer joy and social justice through being in the outdoors and building a community of queer folks who love hiking and nature. Our purpose is to provide a safe and fun space for queer, trans, and LGBTQ+ people to experience the amazing places and landscapes Scotland offers. Our events are not about about competition or fitness, and we don't care if you've never worn hiking boots before. Each event will have information on the level of difficulty and terrain so you know what to expect.
We organize a wide variety of different types of walks in or around Edinburgh, ranging from short city strolls to more challenging hikes in the hills. All of our hikes are accessible by public transport, and we have a hiking equipment library to lend hiking shoes, trekking poles, and other kit to people who may lack the right gear to participate. Donations will be used to cover the costs of running the group, maintaining the gear library and providing a separate fund for people for whom the cost of travel is a barrier for attending our events.
As a queer hiking group we strive to make our events into a safe queer space inclusive of all people who fall across the spectrum of LGBTQIA+ identities. A queer space for us is not only about sexuality and gender in isolation but touches upon all the different axes of oppression in society. This means we condemn all forms of oppression, including but not limited to: racism, transphobia, sexism, classism, ableism, asexual and aromantic erasure, intersex erasure, and bisexuality erasure.
