Story

LES BAILEY MEMORIAL RIDE

Les Bailey was a founder member of Edmonton Cycle Club in 1996 and remained a stalwart of our group right up until his sad passing in October 2021. Les was ill for many years but did not let this interfere with his cycling and he continued to ride with us until his final few months. Les was a skilled bike mechanic and his expertise assisted numerous club members over the years. He would often loan bikes to new members to help get them started.

This year we have decided to organise a sponsored bike ride in memory of Les to raise the £200 that will enable us to continue providing cycling activities for the local community free of charge and also in support of NORTH LONDON HOSPICE which provided great comfort for Les towards the end of his life and has continued to help his wife, Maz, cope with her loss.

On 26th June 2022 a team from Edmonton Cycle Club will undertake a 50 mile ride from Enfield to Blackmore and back. Your support will be greatly appreciated.

Edmonton Cycle Club prides itself on providing cycling activities for the local community free of charge. Cyclists of all ages and abilities are welcome to join us. We have very limited costs and in the past have been able to cover these by helping to marshal events and similar activities. These opportunities are not currently available so we need to raise £200 to cover the maintenance of our website and insurance cover for our ride leaders. We will use the first £200 of the money raised to cover these costs and everything else will be donated to NORTH LONDON HOSPICE.
